    The inheritance assets are shared as stated in an open will or by law. There are many aspects which have to be taken into account, such as:

    1. The address of the deceased person.
    2. The right of the descendants to a proportional share of the estate, which passes by law.
    3. Inheritance taxes.  The heirs have a period of six months since the moment of decease to pay taxes. These taxes expire after a period of four years and six months after the death. It is important to ask your lawyer how much will these taxes reach.

Buying and selling in Spain.

You have to bear in mind that:

  1. You can purchase and sell with the use of a power of attorney.
  2. You need to have an N.I.E. Number (Foreign Identification number). All foreigners which are going to hold a public contract so as to have a title deed need to have the N.I.E. This number can be asked for in advance in a Spanish Embassy or in Spain with the help of a power of attorney.
  3. The title deed is witnessed by a notary public.
  4. Taxes to be paid reach the amount of 8,00% of the purchase price, and has to be paid before the title deed goes to the Land Registry where the property will be inscribed under your name.
